No. Watching is a completely valid way to enjoy the club, and many couples start there. Touching without asking is against the rules and may get someone thrown out. No means no, always. You set your own pace — some couples take years to move past watching, and that's perfectly fine.
Absolutely. With a huge dance floor and a big-Hollywood-nightclub feel, plenty of members come primarily to dance, flirt, and socialize. Anything beyond that is entirely optional.
Club Joi is a members-only club for open-minded couples and single ladies. Single gentlemen may attend only our special Ladies Fantasy events, hosted by the Hot Wife Community, where the number of single men is limited. This is one of the biggest differences from a regular nightclub. Gentlemen are here with their partners and have agreed to follow the club's rules of consent and respect. Ladies call the shots, and our members and staff take that culture seriously. Many women say it's the most comfortable club environment they've ever experienced.
Every Friday and Saturday. Saturdays are the big night — 250 to 300 guests, from 9pm until 5am. Fridays are a fun, frisky 120 to 150 people. We also host occasional weeknight events like Karaoke Wednesdays and Sex Game Nights — check the calendar.

Club Joi is open every Friday and Saturday. We're one of the only clubs in the United States with couples and single ladies on Fridays.
Saturday is the big night. With a 250–300 person average, we are by far the biggest swing club in Southern California. Saturdays go from 9pm all the way until 5am. It's a long party — pace yourself!

Ladies Fantasy events include single men. They're hosted by the Hot Wife Community rather than Club Joi, though members are always welcome, and the number of single gentlemen is limited.

Our members are amazing. Every year we get bigger — no major advertising, built entirely on word of mouth. A recent survey said 20% of all married and long-term couples are swingers or have tried the lifestyle. In Los Angeles that means potentially 400,000 swingers! We've got a lot of work to do. We started off in a little place in Beverly Hills. A small loft with three beds, a tiny dance floor, and only one toilet — but it did have a shower!
We moved to a much bigger place off Wilshire Blvd and quickly transformed into an actual club with parties twice a month. Then the space was rented out from underneath us — a big catering company signed a long-term lease. We got the boot!
Warehouse parties. The club bounced around downtown for a few months, renting locations by the night and dragging beds, speakers, and everything else in and out. Difficult — but we still managed two parties a month.
The building by USC was a lifesaver: five years of Club Joi, with a big dance floor, central air, separate rooms, and parking. We had a local artist paint sexy pictures on the walls. It really became home.
Unfortunately the building had persistent permit problems, and it eventually came down to parking. Planning never approved the shared use, revoked our occupancy, and the Fire Department closed us down. The police were actually very understanding — the captain said, "We don't have an issue with you. We know you aren't breaking any laws."
After five years we had to move on — two more temporary locations downtown in two years. Then, in 2018, we found a new home.
The new building is the biggest yet — a massive 12,000-square-foot space with a big Hollywood nightclub feel and sexy play areas. High ceilings throughout. An elegant chandelier-lit group area. A shower big enough for four close friends. An exhibitionist/voyeur arena. Private and semi-private rooms. Triple-bed orgy rooms. Blue rooms, red rooms, a dark room. And the restrooms: one for the ladies, one for the gentlemen, and a coed restroom with a shower. 12 toilets. No waiting.
Near four major freeways, our members come from everywhere — the beach and inland, north in the Valley to South Orange County — and we're only 20 minutes from the airport for couples visiting Los Angeles. It even has parking.
This building was a game changer. People from all over the world compare us to the swing club in their home town — Club Joi has become a player on the world stage of swingers clubs. We continually work to upgrade the building and your swinging experience.
When did it all start? According to science, it probably with cave orgies. About 3 million years ago mankind split from monkeys. Around 300,000 years ago we became homo sapiens. About 100,000 years ago we started speaking. 11,000 years of religion. Only 5,000 years of written language. Long before religion and the norms of society, we all just got together at night and had sex — millions and millions of cave orgies!
Back then life expectancy was 18. Hundreds of thousands of years of living and having sex together in caves shaped our sexual behavior — the sexual behavior you probably recognize from your own bedroom.
Scientists believe this instinct shows up again and again throughout history — from harems and Roman orgies to modern swing parties like Club Joi. Marriage only started a few thousand years ago. You were bred for this.
It's a little hard to define Club Joi. It's not really a nightclub. It's not really a sex party. It's like a big Hollywood dance club, but with "benefits." A place where you can look, feel, and be sexy — comfortably, among like-minded people. A safe place to meet other couples and single ladies without commitment, but with unlimited possibilities.
Swingers is a dated term — it brings up images of a hairy-chested guy with a bowl of keys from 1975. It's not the same anymore. Women are not the same. Couples are not the same. We need a new term.
"The Lifestyle" sounds nice but it's not descriptive — you end up typing "swingers lifestyle club" into Google or you'll never find a party. The upside-down pineapple is cute and clever, but not a Google searchable term. (If you see someone wearing an upside-down pineapple shirt, strike up a conversation!) Spicy club hasn't gained traction. Happenings — that's what they call them in Japan. ENM (ethical non-monogamy) is a mouthful — and if you mix up the initials it means something totally different.
Orgy makes you think of ancient Rome — which was actually more than just sex. It was a place where you met people, listened to music, ate, drank, and of course had sex. A lot like Club Joi today. But "orgy" just brings up images of a pile of bodies.
Attitudes change. Society changes. The swingers lifestyle has evolved along with the times. Maybe we need a new name (Joi Clubs?) or an attitude change toward Swingers.
Club Joi is the only true swing club in town. California is loaded with swingers and Los Angeles is the biggest city — but new couples interested in the Lifestyle have had few options here. It's difficult. In over 16 years, we've seen at least one club a year fail.
Hotel parties can be fun but awkward for inexperienced swingers, leaving new couples wondering if they'll ever be bold enough to play in a well-lit hotel room. House parties are inconsistent and limited — not conducive to a large swing crowd.
L.A. Couples was a huge swing club in Los Angeles — the only one with a party every weekend. It lasted about three years, and its closing was a major setback for LA swingers. Freedom Acres (Club FA) was the longest-running club in Southern California and a big inspiration, but not in Los Angeles; it closed after the owner passed away. Beverly Playhouse closed. The Amnesty Club — gone. Carnal Manor — gone. Lust Parties went broke. Since Club Joi started in 2010, more than 20 swinger groups and clubs have opened and closed.
