When did it all start? Probably with Cave Orgies according to science. Mankind probably split from monkeys about 3 million years ago. Around about 300,000 years as homo sapiens. About 5,000 years of written language. Before religion and the norms of society we all just got together at night and had sex. That's a lot of Cave Orgies.
Back then life expectancy was 18. Hurry up and get pregnant! Hundreds of Thousands of years of living and having sex together in caves shaped our sexual behavior. Behavior you recognize today.
Men are indiscriminate. They will chase any tail that moves. Very little consideration for anything else at the time. She's new or just available? He wants her! He gets her. Has an orgasm. Looses all interest. Rolls over to go to sleep. Sound familiar?
Females are a little more complex. Non sexual until sex starts. Then she screams out during sex. She may not think she is calling out for more sex partners to increase the odds of getting pregnant, but hat's exactly what she's doing. It's instinct. She needs to get pregnant and have a baby quick. The more partners. The stronger her partner. The better chance her baby has of surviving. When sex starts she cries out. All inhibitions are lost. A Modern Name?
It's a little hard to define Club Joi. It's not really a Nightclub. It's not really a Sex Party. Maybe a mashup? It's kind of like a big Hollywood dance club, but sexier, and with "Benefits". A club where you can look, feel, and be sexy. Comfortably. Among like minded people. It's a safe place to meet other couples and single ladies without commitment, but with unlimited possibilities. A place to make friends. A place to explore fantasies and satisfy curiosities.
In 2026 we're still struggling for the right word. There has been a push to update the word describing clubs like this. The latest thing is an Upside Down Pineapple. It's not actually a word. A cute and clever symbol but not a word.
Swingers is a dated term. It brings up images of a hairy chested guy with a bowl of keys from 1975. It's not the same anymore. Women are not the same. Couples are not the same. We need a new term to replace Swingers.
In Japan they call them, Happenings or Happening Clubs. Talk about generic. Spicy Clubs has been tossed around. Sounds fun but hasn't gained traction.
The Lifestyle sounds nice but it's not descriptive. Are you talking about a Healthy Lifestyle? Country Lifestyle? You end up putting Swingers Lifestyle club or Swing Lifestyle in Google or you'll never find a party. Defeats the purpose.
A new term being espoused is Ethical Non Monogamy. It's a mouthful. You may see the #ENM in social media. Hard to remember and if you mix the initials up it means something totally different.
Orgy makes you think of Ancient Rome. There was no TV back then. Not much to do on a Friday night, but they had plumbing. If you were single you'd probably go to the brothel. If you were married you go to the local orgy. Actually more than just sex. It was a place where you hang out. They had live music. You could eat drink and of course have sex. Today the term "Orgy" just brings up images of a body pile.
Attitudes change. Society changes. The "Swingers Lifestyle" has evolved along with the times. We just need a new name. Maybe Joi Clubs?
We started off in a little place in Beverly Hills. A small loft with 3 beds. It was pretty cool. A tiny dance floor. Only one toilet, but it did have a shower! Fun but small.
We moved to a much bigger place off Wilshire Blvd. We quickly transformed into an actual club. With parties twice a month. The club began to develop a pretty decent following. Suddenly the space was rented from underneath us. We were doing nightly rentals and a big catering company signed a long term lease. We got the boot!
Warehouse Parties. The club bounced around downtown for a few months. Renting __cpLocations by the night. Dragging beds, speakers and everything else in and out. It was difficult but we still managed 2 parties a month.
The building by USC was a lifesaver. Five years of Club Joi. It had a big dance floor, Central Air, Separate rooms, and parking. Maybe not perfect, but compared to the warehouses it was wonderful. You may still hear people talking about it. We had a local artist paint sexy pictures on the walls. It really became home.
Unfortunately the building had persistent permit problems. We had all kinds of issues. City Planning. Building and Safety. Eventually the Fire Department and we were done. The police were actually very understanding. The captain said, "We don't have an issue with you. We know you aren't breaking any laws and you've been respectful every time we've had to stop by." We appreciate the police and their efforts to keep everyone safe.
Nevertheless after 5 years we had to move on. The next two years we had 2 decent temporary Locations. Yes. Two moves in 2 years. A lot better than twice a month! Both locations downtown. Very connivent and they served us well but were never intended to be the long term solution. In 2018 we found a new home.
The New building is he Biggest yet. A massive 12,000 sf. It has a big Hollywood nightclub feel with sexy play areas. High ceilings throughout most of the club. An elegant Chandelier lit group area with clean sexy play stations. A shower big enough for 4 close friends. Exhibitionist/Voyeur Arena. Private and Semi-private rooms. Small rooms. Triple bed orgy rooms. Blue rooms. Red rooms. Dark room. Best of all is the restrooms. We have one for the ladies, one for the gentlemen, and a coed restroom with a shower. With 12 toilets no waiting.
This new building was a game changer. It became a new standard in the lifestyle. People from all over the world come to Los Angeles and compare us to the Swing Club in their home town. Our members visit swing clubs and go on swingers vacations. The people they meet come to Club Joi. It really has made Club Joi a player on the world stage of swingers clubs. Still not satisfied we continually work to upgrade the building and your swinging experience. We just put in New porcelain tiles in the basement and two new AC units!
Near 4 major freeways. Our members come from everywhere. The beach and inland. North in the Valley to South Orange county. Regulars from Venture County and San Diego. We are about the same distance from Santa Monica as Pomona, or Woodland Hills and Irvine. For couples visiting Los Angeles we're Only 20 minutes from the airport.
It even has parking. Which can be a real issue in Los Angeles. Everything sort of fell into place with this building. Even the Fire department gave us a thumbs up for our safety measures.
Club Joi is open every Friday and Saturday. We started gradually with 1 or 2 Saturdays a month. As membership grew we went to every Saturday. Now every Friday and Saturday with some extra events. Ladies Fantasy with single gentlemen once or twice a month. We occasionally have Wednesday or Thursday Game or Karaoke parties. Club Joi one of the only clubs in the United States with Couples and Single Ladies on Fridays.
Saturday is the big night. With a 250-300 people average we are by far the BIGGEST Swing Club in Southern California. Saturdays go from 9 pm all the way until 5 am! It's a long party. Pace Yourself!
Fridays are a little fickle but Club Joi is the first Swing club in LA to even try a Friday party in 16 years. They started slow but have grown. At this point we have a fun and frisky 120-150 people every Friday. We are very proud to offer a Friday night swingers party in Los Angeles. Ladies Fantasy events at Club Joi have single men. They are actually NOT a Club Joi event although members are always welcome at them. They are hosted by the Hot Wife Community. If you click on the Ladies Fantasy flyer you will be redirected to their site to sign up for the event. The number of single gentlemen is limited. Club Joi couples and single ladies are always welcome.
Wednesday and Thursdays are not classic party nights. We don't do them often, but we have had some wonderful midweek events. Occasionally we will have a Karaoke Wednesday or Sex Game Night with fun games like Sexy Simon Says. Musical poles, Strip Tack Toe and more. They are growing in popularity. Hopefully we can do more of them. Check the Calendar often or check the newsletter to keep up to date.
Our Members are amazing! Every year we get bigger. No major advertising. Couples follow us no matter how much we bounced around this town. They even invite their friends. Everyday someone calls and says their friends told them about Club Joi. It was built on word-of-mouth advertising. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful membership base.
Still trying to get the word out. A recent survey said 20% of all married and long term couples are swingers or have tried the lifestyle. In Los Angeles that means potentially we could have nearly 400,000 swingers. We've got a lot of work to do!
The bigger the list, the more Lifestyle Parties we can throw so we're hoping you'll join us and tell your friends. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a club in Los Angeles with swing parties every night of the week? In a city as big and exciting as LA, the sky is the limit!
Club Joi is the only true swing club in town. California is loaded with swingers and Los Angeles is the biggest city, but New Couples interested in the Lifestyle have few had options here. There are some lifestyle groups. House and hotel parties but not much in the way of a real club like Club Joi. The city of Los Angeles is difficult even for regular clubs. In over 15 years we see at least 1 a year fail.
Hotel parties can be fun. They meet in a regular hotel bar or meeting room. Then and go to a suite for playtime. Which is awkward for inexperienced swingers. Leaving new couples wondering if they will ever be bold enough to "go for it" in a well lit hotel room.
Houses have been used for swinging and lifestyle events since ancient Rome. They can be a lot of fun but they are inconsistent. It's understandable. A party every weekend and neighbors get upset. Often complaints about noise, parking, trash, or sometimes, naked people running around. Houses are limited. Not condusive to a large swing crowd.
L.A. Couples was a huge swing club in Los Angeles. Club Joi started 3 years after LA Couples closed their doors. It was a massive club. Opened around 2003. It was the only Swingers club who had a party every weekend in Los Angeles. It lasted about 3 three years. Their closing was a major set back for Los Angeles swingers, and for the Lifestyle of Southern California.
Freedom Acres i.e. Club FA was the longest running club in Southern California. They were a big inspiration. It was a fun club but not in Los Angeles. They were out in the inland empire. Club FA closed down after the owner passed away. Beverly Playhouse closed. The Amnesty Club gone. Carnal Manor gone. Lust Parties went broke and were bought by another club then closed again. Club Joi started in 2010. Since we started more than 20 swinger groups/clubs have opened and closed.
It's been very difficult for Swing Clubs in Southern California. Club Joi is trying to do it's part for Los Angeles swingers, and the many lifestyle couples who vacation here but we need your help. Join now. Attend often and if possible, tell your friends. Keep Los Angeles Swinging.
